What exactly is the Swachh Bharat Mission?

The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the goal of keeping the streets, highways, and society clean and raising cleanliness awareness so that half of the diseases caused by filth can be removed.

This campaign began on October 2, 2014, Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday. Mahatma Gandhi made a significant contribution to our country’s independence, freeing it from British enslavement. Gandhiji was a firm believer in maintaining a clean environment. It was once said that God resides in cleanliness.

Because of the country’s independence, his ideal of a clean India remained unfulfilled! Gandhiji used to educate the people of the country in order to keep the country clean. So that we can create a clean nation that can serve as an example to other nations.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: An Overview

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a abhiyan to clean up the entire country. To make this objective a success, the government has spent Rs. 1.96 lakh crore building 1.2 million new toilets in rural areas of the country until Gandhiji’s 150th birthday. The goal of construction is to rid the country of open defecation!

Some major corporations have also banded together to ensure the mission’s success. By May 2015, 14 firms, including Tata Consultancy Services, Mahendra Group, and Rotary International, would have collaborated to install 3195 new toilets around the country.

Why was this campaign created in the first place?

Even after seven decades of independence, there is no toilet in every home in our country, and it is very sad to inform you that open defecation is still an issue. The vast majority of India’s population still lives in rural areas.

According to research, more than 72% of the country’s population is still compelled to defecate along roads, in fields, and behind bushes. As a result, the number of children dying prematurely in the country, infections, and the emergence of new diseases, as well as rape of girls who have been abandoned for faeces, is on the rise.

According to the 2011 census, the country’s population is 121 million, with 55 percent of the population lacking access to toilets. People living in slum slums in most towns and cities do not have access to either dry or clean water, and as a result, filth levels are rising in cities as well! To address this issue, it is necessary to build toilets on a wide scale across the country at this moment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Smart City Scheme, like the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, focuses on India’s development.

What is the primary goal of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan?

  • To prevent all individuals living inside the country from defecating in the open, which causes hundreds of children to die each year from new diseases.
  • To influence people’s views by implementing good cleanliness inside the country.
  • Encourage more individuals in the country to use the toilet and raise public awareness.
  • Keeping the country’s rural areas clean. In order to prevent the spread of new diseases.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of all roads, pathways, and settlements within the country.
  • Cleanliness will be used to raise public awareness about the need of cleanliness in the country.

Why is the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan required in the country?

When embarking on any endeavour, people should have a clear purpose in mind! It is critical for people to understand this for their own physical, emotional, social, and intellectual well-being. A campaign for cleanliness is essential in every field to improve the country’s social and economic situation! Dirt can only be on the mind, thus it’s not necessary.

  • Such a site does not exist within the country! Where there isn’t a lot of dirt. Every city, hamlet, and neighbor hood in the country is filthy.
  • As a result, dirt is spreading from place to place! And new diseases are born as a result of this dirt.
  • All the rivers and rivulets in the country’s cities and villages are likewise clogged with garbage! It’s as though rubbish is flowing through them instead of water.
  • As a result of the increasing dirt in the country, tourists from other countries have limited their visits! This has had an effect on the country’s economic situation.
  • Animals and animals, in addition to humans, have suffered greatly as a result of the increased dirt in the country! As a result, the number of fauna has reduced dramatically.
  • This is extremely vital for all citizens of the country, as all citizens should construct toilets in their homes in order to abolish the open defecation regime.
